The National Institute of First Assisting, Inc (NIFA), the largest trainer of RNFA and APRN First Assistants in the United States hosts a 5 day workshop approximately 10 times a year throughout the US for RN and APRNs seeking to become certified in OR first assisting.
Skills On Point works as a strategic partner to help offer students the convenience of advanced procedural training needed by many new APRNs and APRN students who are new to the acute care/perioperative environment in need of privileging and formalized initial education/continuing education courses at a heavily discounted rate.

During this optional class, indications for ultrasound-guided central venous line insertion and arterial line insertion are reviewed. Anatomy relative to procedural technique and blind technique landmarks will be discussed. Preoperative, intraoperative,and postoperative assessments will be reviewed. This workshop includes a hands-on experience to learn techniques using Butterfly iQ ultrasound machines, central lines, and arterial lines commonly used in practice.
Course included 3 hours of ANCC-Approved continuing education credit.
Students at a NIFA SutureStar Summit workshop learning how to perform a chest tube thoracostomy with trocar and blunt techniques with state-of-the-art simulators..
During this optional class, indications for intubation, video-assisted laryngoscopy, and percutaneous tracheostomy using intubation scopes are reviewed. Anatomy relative to procedural and incisional technique and blind technique landmarks will be discussed. Preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative assessments will be reviewed. This workshop includes a hands-on experience to learn safe techniques on advanced airway simulators.

Not all course dates and locations for the NIFA 5-Day SutureStar workshop include this elective during 2020. Moving forward, they will be available at every Monday-Friday workshop on the Saturday following the 5-day workshop. Students from NIFA and any interested participants from the public may attend.
